Detroit Native Returns Home, Driving Global Impact with First Black-Owned Wearable Breast Pump Brand

Mykel B Davis, visionary behind Muscle Up Mommy J35 wearable breast pumps

Detroit, MI – September 14, 2025 – Mykel B. Davis, Detroit-born entrepreneur and founder of Muscle Up Mommy, is returning to her hometown with a global mission: to transform the way mothers experience technology, wellness, and maternal health. As the first Black-owned wearable breast pump brand, Muscle Up Mommy is leading the charge in femtech innovation, redefining postpartum care for today’s mothers.

Davis, who grew up in Detroit and went on to study Journalism at Bowling Green State University and Business at Michigan State University, is now scaling her brand from a postpartum fitness company into a global femtech and wellness movement. With the relaunch of its online store, the introduction of the MUMFEST Wellness Festival, and its new Social Series during Houston’s largest tech week, Davis is bringing her message of innovation and empowerment back to the city that shaped her.

“Coming back to Detroit isn’t just about sharing my story—it’s about showing mothers, women, and entrepreneurs that we belong in technology, innovation, and leadership,” said Davis. “This city raised me, and now I want to pour back into it by creating access, resources, and representation in spaces where women, especially mothers, are often overlooked.”

On Friday, September 26, 2025 at 1pm, Mykel B Davis will be headlining a fireside chat with Alexa Turnage, Founder and Chief Engagement Officer of Black Tech Saturdays, at the Digital Empowerment Summit. The event is free and open to the public, offering access to founders, innovators, and industry leaders shaping the future of tech.

Free tickets are available here, but space is limited — early registration is encouraged.

In addition to speaking at the Summit, Davis will be meeting with local leaders, exploring partnerships, and making media appearances to spotlight her journey as both an entrepreneur and mother.

With Muscle Up Mommy’s innovation in wearable technology, Davis continues to bridge the gap between maternal health, femtech, and community wellness. Her story represents the resilience, creativity, and impact Detroit is known for, making her return both timely and inspiring.
